Brown Gibbons Lang & Company Donates $20,000 to Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts

Responding to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, independent middle market investment bank Brown Gibbons Lang & Company has donated $20,000 to Helping Americans Needing Disaster Support (HANDS).

“As we watch the images from the Gulf Coast our hearts and prayers go out to all those who have been impacted by this tragedy,” said Michael E. Gibbons, senior managing director and chairman of Brown Gibbons Lang & Company. “This donation to HANDS will assist the organization in their efforts to bring in supplies and other essential materials to the people most affected by the hurricane.”

HANDS was organized to assist the Hurricane Katrina relief effort by providing immediate support of the victims by sending out trucks of supplies to the devastated areas. Some of the supplies sent so far have included water, food, clothing, chain saws, tools, first aid, school supplies, medical supplies and diapers.

“The national response to the victims of Hurricane Katrina has been heartwarming,” said Scott H. Lang, BGL’s senior managing director and CEO. “It is encouraging to see individuals, businesses and corporations assisting with donations and relief activity as we help the victims rebuild their lives. We are fully confident BGL’s donation to HANDS will be put to good use as have all of our previous charitable donations and sponsorships.”

In August 2005, BGL sponsored the inaugural Middle Market Open at the Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, IL. The golf event raised $125,000 for the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois. Over the years, BGL has supported various charitable organizations, including: The American Diabetes Association, The Children’s Heart Foundation, ALS, and many others.
